I'll be making this decision without knowing where Morrigan's development goes in the future. But I have to prepare my canon playthrough now, so that it will be ready for Inquisition. I don't want her character to be fundamentally changed, but I want her to have gained some sympathy for those less powerful than her. So I hope that Inquisition's Morrigan is less brutal.
I could choose Leliana, but I'm more attracted to Morrigan's independence, and her story is, frankly, more interesting. So I feel very conflicted about making Morrigan my canon romance. And although it is possible to 'soften' her by pursuing her romance, her softer side doesn't apply to any quest decisions in the main game. I prefer Morrigan's strong mind and rationality, but I hate her disregard for the weak.
One of the most important choices I have to make is the romance: Leliana vs. I'm preparing for my canon playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins, the canon that I will import to Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
